The dream of establishing a four-year public university in Southwest Washington entails a turbulent and hopeful history. It is a history that describes the competing interests of regions as well as the collaboration between individuals and institutions. “History of Higher Education in Southwest Washington: Controversies and Contributions,” on display through June 30 in the Library, documents the evolution of higher education in Southwest Washington and the struggle to bring university access to the Clark County area.

The display features archival materials going back to the 1860s, drawn from WSU Vancouver Archives and Special Collections and from library collections throughout the state.
